Hello March! Whether it’s in like a lion or a lamb, I’m happy to see you!
I have got to say, I loved this month’s challenge from Creative Embellishments, I was truly inspired to create. Here are all of the details…
This is the challenge image that I took inspiration from. I took my main inspirations from the diamond patterns in the image and the bold black and white colours.
Also, another source of inspiration was to come from the following quote:
“Every great adventure requires a first step.”
I think ART is a great adventure, you take that first step, brush stroke, or cut and then you just see where the adventure takes you.
I used the following chipboard and stamp from Creative Embellishments:
Grunge Corner, Grunge Harlequin Piece, Grunge Square Frames, Distressed Chevron Border, Shape Artist Trading Coins, Film Strip Stamp 1
Other Products Used:
Creative Scrapbooker- Super Stock Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Stampendous Embossing Dauber, Ranger- Archival Ink (Jet Black), Ranger Black Embossing Powder, Gems, Buttons, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (Crafty Foam Tape, E-Z Runner Ultra, Adhesive Dots Mini, Adhesive Dots Medium, 3D Foam Squares), Yellow Burlap String, Thickers, Deco Art Multi-Surface Satin Paint (Black, White)
The first thing I did was cut the Creative Scrapbooker Super Stock to 10.5×10.5. Then using white paint and a hard bristled brush, I splattered paint all around the outer edge of the cardstock. Set aside and let dry. Then using black paint and another hard bristled brush, I splattered paint around the outer edge of the white cardstock. Once both layers are dry, I adhered them together.
I altered all of my chipboard pieces for this layout exactly the same. I used the Stampendous Embossing Dauber, and added black embossing powder to each. I wanted them to have that high gloss black look.
I added the chipboard pieces using a combination of adhesive dots and 3D foam to add a bit of dimension. I created yellow burlap string circles and added them between chipboard layers.
We’d love to see you play along with this month’s challenge. You can find out how, by popping over to the original challenge post HERE.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
