My largest layer is the 12×12 grey cardstock. Cut your white cardstock to 11.5×11.5. Cut the yellow patterned paper to 11×11. Adhere these layers together.

Cut 2 pieces of cardstock that are 7×12. From one, cut a piece that is 3×7, this is the bottom piece of the border. Cut 2 strips of the wood patterned paper that are 1×12. Adhere these strips to either side of the bottom piece of white cardstock you cut, leaving about a half inch showing on each side. Now you can build your layered border.

blackfridaylo-2Using the Delicate and Classic borders that all face the same direction for this design cut lots of pieces. I lay and taped the dies all the way up my 7” strip of white cardstock, and ran it through my machine. Keep doing this until you have enough pieces to create the layered border. Also keep in mind you want a little space left between each cut for layering purposes. I used about 15. You will need to use the plain border cut a few times with a couple of the other border dies.

Once you have your pieces cut, you are ready to layer and adhere them to the border, using your base piece as a guide and work your way up. At the top I added a piece of teal patterned paper that is 1×7, and a piece of the yellow and teal border strip that is also 7” long.

Add the white silk ribbon to the layout, tying it in a bow to the right hand side of the layout.

Mat your photo in black, white ad then grey cardstock. Adhere to the layout over top of the ribbon using 3D foam tape.

I used a mix of letter sticker and words to create my title on the left hand side of the layout. Then I added some gems around it for a little extra sparkle.

  3. At first I thought you had embossed with each die, but realized that would not work. Wow. Lots of effort. Nicely done.

  5. I love how you layered all the die-cut edges, creating a whimsical scrapbook page for a beautiful little girl. I’m sure she will be thrilled with the lacy effect when she grows up. Having had boys, I don’t get to make such beautiful pages!

  6. I am not a scrapbooker.. but I love this idea… I do make “pages” occasionally but those I tend to make as 12×12 framed art pieces . What a gorgeous layout… love it and I love the fact you went with a non traditional style to show off these fab borders.

  8. The scrapbook page is great! And to accent the photo with all the borders is a great idea! I never would have thought of that. Thanks for showing that a layout can be so multidimensional!
